With all the modern advances in human assisted reproduction and cryopreservation, the egg bank is now a very real and attractive option if you need to use donor eggs to start, or add to, your family. In this article we discuss the things that you should look for in an egg bank to ensure you are putting your trust in the right place.
WHAT IS AN EGG BANK?
Egg banks, such as OvobankUS, have storage facilities where the donor eggs are stored, frozen (vitrified) in liquid nitrogen at -196°C. You can read more about this process here. The frozen eggs can be stored indefinitely in this state until they are needed, when they will be shipped and then later thawed for fertilization.
At OvobankUS we have a highly experienced and trained team of embryologists and cryobiologists who perform the freezing process, a technique known as vitrification. Our specialists morphologically screen and freeze only mature egg cells in metaphase II, to ensure you get the best quality eggs possible.
WHAT SHOULD YOU LOOK FOR IN AN EGG BANK?
When using frozen donor eggs, you want to make sure that your egg bank has an experienced and qualified team of specialists, a good support department to be there on hand to answer your questions, and guarantee options to give you the peace of mind you need to stay calm and confident during the process of donor egg IVF.
Here at OvobankUS we have a proven track record and experienced and qualified personnel. You are free to ask as many questions as you need, as many times as you need. We offer the reliability of a friendly support team who can offer intended parents and clinics the information and advice that they need throughout the process of selecting the donor, ordering the batch of frozen donor eggs, shipment and the all-important thawing, before the eggs are fertilized.
It is also advisable to make sure your eggs are covered by a blastocyst guarantee, to ensure that at least one of your embryos make it to the important day 5 blastocyst stage.
At OvobankUS we guarantee that you will obtain at least one blastocyst from a batch of our frozen donor eggs, whichever batch size you order, or we will send a second batch of eggs to you at no extra cost.
Furthermore, if you order one of our batch and maxi batch options we also guarantee you a second blastocyst; if there is no 2nd blastocyst we will send you a minibatch at no extra cost. If you don’t achieve any blastocysts with a second batch, then we will perform an investigation to find out where the problem lies.
The blastocyst guarantee requires certain medical conditions to be met, and a minimum semen quality, so contact us for more information and to ensure you meet the requirements.
CAN SUCCESS BE GUARANTEED?
The success of bringing home a baby can never be fully guaranteed, as so many different factors are involved, such as sperm quality, uterine factors and immune factors to name a few. However, at OvobankUS we want you to have the best possible chances of a successful pregnancy and to build the family you have always dreamed of.
For this end, we run the OvobankUS Clinical Pregnancy Program: if you don’t achieve a clinical pregnancy, as confirmed by positive beta-hCG and ultrasound, we send further batches of frozen eggs so that you can repeat the process. You can choose to be covered by 1 extra batch, 3 extra batches or 5 extra batches for repeated attempts. Each batch will be sent separately and the Clinical Pregnancy Program must be ordered with the initial batch. The program stops once a clinical pregnancy is achieved.
If you have any questions about our egg bank, batch options and guarantees, just contact us and ask all the questions you need – we are always happy to help.
